As part of the “Stella Alpina 2024” exercise, which took place on September 18, 2024, on the shores of Lake Fedaia in the Dolomites, Veco Robotics had the honor of supporting Italian Army units with the quadruped robot Cesare. Our participation marked a significant step forward in the integration of advanced robotic technologies into Italian military operations.

Q-UGV Cesare at work
The Cesare Q-UGV (Quadrupedal Unmanned Ground Vehicle) has demonstrated its exceptional capabilities in a challenging Alpine environment. This quadruped robot is designed to operate in rough terrain and extreme conditions. During the simulated operations to reclaim the Fedaia Lake Dam, it performed several crucial roles.

The Cesare Q-UGV has seamlessly integrated with the Italian Army’s advanced systems: this synergy has demonstrated how advanced robotics can enhance the capabilities of modern armed forces, providing flexibility and resilience in complex operational scenarios.
The Importance of Innovation
Veco Robotics’ participation in the Stella Alpina 2024 exercise perfectly aligns with the emphasis placed by General Masiello and Defense Minister Crosetto on the importance of technological innovation for the Italian armed forces. The Cesare Q-UGV embodies precisely that “dualism between past and future” mentioned by General Masiello, combining the robustness required to operate in traditional Alpine environments with cutting-edge technologies.
Looking to the Future
The Stella Alpina 2024 experience has confirmed the Cesare Q-UGV’s potential in modern military operations. Veco Robotics is proud to contribute to the technological transformation of the Italian Army and is committed to continuing collaboration to develop increasingly advanced robotic solutions tailored to the specific needs of the Italian armed forces.
Our participation in this exercise is not only a demonstration of current capabilities, but also a step toward a future in which robotics will play an increasingly central role in defense and national security.
